Ever get that feeling like there's more to see and do? Boy do I know what its like! Ever since my return from Kenya, I've been thinking "What's next?" Truthfully I knew what needed to come next, finishing my Master's and getting a house of my own. And while those two things will still occur, I found a way to do some exploring and volunteering close by. And that is New Orleans!
I remember in high school one year my birthday was on Fat Tuesday and I just thought, "wow, I'd love to go to New Orleans one day." Much like my Africa trip, my New Orleans trip was something I'd do "one day" and was put on my list of weekend trips to accomplish at some point in my life. Well, now is the time!
In February, my mom, a close friend and I will be volunteering with Habitat for Humanity in the St. Bernard's Parish near New Orleans. There are still many homes to be built, fixed, and even trash to be picked up.
I can't wait!
